You’ve purchased your tickets, read through all of the awesome sessions offered, and are getting pumped up to attend the YNPNdc Annual Leadership Conference. There’s a catch, though: you’ve never attended the Annual Leadership Conference before, and you’re not quite sure how to make the most of it.

Our team has been hard at work since January preparing the best Annual Leadership Conference yet. We’re excited about our Keynote Speakers this year, and have an excellent selection of breakout sessions and other programming that will leave you energized and ready to lead with refreshed purpose when you go back to work on Monday.
Here are our top tips for making the most of your Annual Leadership Conference experience.
Meet Three New People
Our attendee list is always packed with interesting, emerging nonprofit leaders, and they all have diverse interests, experiences, and professional focus areas. This year is no different.
We’re thrilled to see so many conference attendees register with co-workers. However, we want to challenge you to branch out and connect to three people you did not know before.
If you’re concerned about how to approach making new connections at the event, try one of these tips:
Contribute to session conversations about a topic that you’re interested in, and follow up after the session with people who shared similar or fascinating perspectives. The Happy Hour is a great time to engage in deeper conversations that you didn’t have time for during the event.
Introduce yourself to someone who works at an organization you’d love to work for, and ask them what the path to working there looked like. This is an excellent opportunity to form relationships that could lead to your dream job, or to discover whether a workplace is right for you.
Not everyone is a natural social butterfly. Are you more extroverted? Find someone who might be too shy to reach out first—they might be glad that you initiated. More introverted? Find ways to engage with other conference attendees that you’re comfortable with, and that meet the goals you set for the conference.
Members of the Leadership Team will post highlights from the event all day, and we want to encourage vibrant conversation about session content on our conference hashtag, #ynpndc15.
Did you really love a quote from the morning keynote? Did you take a photo from a session that sparked a great idea? Post it on any of the above listed platforms with #ynpndc15 to be a part of the conversation. We might retweet or repost your content, too! Conference social media participation is an excellent way to grow your virtual network and build influence. Take this time to try your hand at live-tweeting sessions or connecting with other attendees who are sharing their thoughts on social media.
Reach Out to a YNPNdc Leadership Team Member
