Strong nonprofits come from fresh leadership
I joined YNPN DC because I wanted to connect with folks years ago after moving back to DC. I've found it to be a great organization for developing strong young leaders for the nonprofit sector and advocating for the needs of young professionals within nonprofits.
The latter point is particularly important for me, since I see so often organizations driven by keeping up with organizational or online fads and not investing in themselves. This is certainly true in software: my company does CiviCRM implementations and custom development, and we see people rush after new things instead of investing in tools that allow them to own their own data. The same goes for personnel: in rushing to keep up with trends, organizations miss the opportunities to grow the next generation of leaders.
